The A list

We were robbed. The Star Tribune may have given a thumbs-up review to the Twin Cities stop of the "iHeart Jingle Ball Tour," but when it comes to star power, it dimmed in comparison with the New York edition being shown here, with appearances by Justin Bieber, Ariana Grande and the Chainsmokers, all of whom figured prominently when Grammy nominations came out last week.

Back on the case

The three-part miniseries "The Hollow Crown: The Wars of the Roses" may have started Sunday, but its biggest draw — Benedict Cumberbatch as Richard III — doesn't really take center stage until Christmas. PBS is making up for the slow rollout by repeating a pivotal episode of "Sherlock" in which our fabled detective, played by Cumberbatch, appears to have risen from the dead. If you've already seen it, check it out again for the numerous winks to both Arthur Conan Doyle's and the show's reverent fans you may have missed the first time.

A villain in our midst

"I Am Not a Serial Killer" was shot primarily on the Iron Range, which should be fun for Minnesota viewers who never got around to reading the 2009 novel on which it's based. But the cast also has its appeal. In addition to Christopher Lloyd, best known for "Back to the Future" and "Taxi," it features Scottish actress Laura Fraser. The name may not ring a bell, but the face might. She played the tea-addicted, coldhearted villain Lydia in "Breaking Bad."
