At war with ourselves

The late Patrick Swayze may be best remembered for his dirty dancing, but don't overlook his earlier work in 1985's "North & South" (7 p.m., Encore), a miniseries that soared during the genre's most popular era. Subsequent episodes are at 7 p.m. through Friday — or you can take in an entire marathon that starts at 9 a.m. Sunday.

An unspeakable crime

St. Paul attorney Jeff Anderson is prominently featured in "Mea Maxima Culpa: Silence in the House of God" (8 p.m., HBO), an emotionally devastating documentary on how the Catholic Church used its power to silence victims of sexual abuse. Burnsville resident Patrick Kuehn, a victim while attending a Milwaukee boarding school for the deaf, is among those sharing their stories.

Kelley's heroes

After years of corny, even sexist, writing, David E. Kelley comes back swinging with "Monday Mornings" (9 p.m., TNT), an emotionally gripping new medical drama based on a novel by Sanjay Gupta. The cast, which includes Ving Rhames and Jennifer Finnigan, is top-notch, as is the dialogue, which is as crisp and compelling as anything we've heard in this genre since the golden years of "ER."
