Lakeville South's Jenny Mosser is human, obviously. But the senior outside hitter has been blessed with some remarkable physical skills, which she put to good use Tuesday, pounding out 22 kills and playing stellar defense as the Cougars, ranked No. 4 in Class 3A, swept No. 5 Wayzata 25-14, 25-21, 25-21 in the latest of a seemingly endless string of marquee matchups this season.

At 5-11 Mosser, a UCLA commit, isn't tall, but when she puts her 35-inch vertical jump to work, she's easily the state's most intimidating player.

"She's the most physical player in the state," said Wayzata coach Scott Jackson, who coaches Mosser in club volleyball. "When she get a run at it and can hit down the line, she's unstoppable."

Mosser and the Cougars cruised to a 25-14 first set win, taking advantage of Wayzata errors. The Trojans adjusted in the second and third sets, but Lakeville South had too much firepower as Jasmine Mulvihill added eight kills.

"We only had two practices to get ready for them," Mosser said. "But I had seen them play Lakeville North and we knew what to expect."

"We were awful in the first set, but we played them much tougher by the third," Jackson said. "That's why we schedule these matches, to get better."

Mosser reached a milestone in the first set, collecting her 1,000th career kill.

"I knew I was getting close," she said. "But I don't worry too much about it. It was better to get a good team victory in our first home match of the season."
