BOYS' HOCKEY

• DELANO 4, ORONO 0: Brian Halonen's hat trick sparked the Tigers, ranked No. 9 in Class 1A, to the Section 2 semifinal victory. Halonen scored in each period. Delano goalie Jackson Hjelle stopped all 31 shots he faced.

• STILLWATER 4, WHITE BEAR LAKE 0: The Ponies advanced to the Class 2A, Section 4 championship game by beating the Bears. Jackson Cates had two goals and an assist for Stillwater, which will play the winner of Wednesday's semifinal between Woodbury or Hill-Murray on Friday for the section title. Goalie Josh Benson had 16 saves in the shutout for the Ponies, ranked No. 2 in Class 2A.

BOYS' BASKETBALL

• CLASS 4A, SECTION 8: Matthew Keller scored 23 points to lead second-seeded Elk River to a 65-53 quarterfinal victory over Buffalo. … The combined efforts of Brad Davison (26 points) and Jack Hutchison (22 points) led Maple Grove, ranked No. 4, to an 84-40 quarterfinal victory over Moorhead. … Allen Wilson scored 30 points to help Rogers defeat St. Cloud Tech, 74-67. Will Alexander added 21 points for Rogers. Brevyn Spann-Ford scored 26 to lead St. Cloud Tech. The teams were tied at halftime at 33.

The quarterfinals of the eight-team section, which features six of the top 10 teams in the Class 3A state poll, were Tuesday. … Four-time defending state champion DeLaSalle defeated Blake 86-38. … Julian Jackson scored 42 points to lead Minneapolis Henry, ranked No. 7, to an 83-57 victory over Benilde-St. Margaret's, ranked No. 9. • CLASS 2A, SECTION 2: Luke Narveson scored 18 points and Nathan Herman 16 to help Belle Plaine to a 73-63 first-round victory over Tri-City United. All five Belle Plaine starters scored in double figures. … Brice Panning scored 32 points to fuel Norwood Young America's 77-43 first-round victory over Gibbon-Fairfax-Winthrop. … Jordan outlasted Glencoe-Silver Lake 64-62 in overtime. Jimmy Vollbrecht scored 28 to lead the Hubmen, who will play Belle Plaine next. Teddy Petersen scored 21 to lead Glencoe-Silver Lake.

GIRLS' BASKETBALL

• HOPKINS 74, WAYZATA 60: Nia Hollie scored 23 points to lead the Royals, ranked No. 1 in Class 4A, to their eighth consecutive victory. Paige Bueckers and Ashley Bates each contributed 13 points for the Royals, who led 41-24 at halftime.

• SHAKOPEE 68, ROSEMOUNT 59: The Sabers, ranked No. 2 in Class 4A, built a 13-point halftime lead en route to the South Suburban victory. Taylor Koenen scored 22 points to lead the Sabers (24-1).

• EASTVIEW 71, EAGAN 45: Rachel Ranke scored 24 to spark the Lightning, ranked No. 5 in Class 4A, to the South Suburban victory.

• LAKEVILLE NORTH 68, LAKEVILLE SOUTH 32: Temi Carda scored 21 points to lead the Panthers, ranked No. 6 in Class 4A, past the Cougars in the South Suburban.

• ELK RIVER 58, MAPLE GROVE 55: Gabi Haack scored 21 points to help the Elks, ranked No. 7 in Class 4A, defeat the Crimson in the Northwest Suburban. Abi Scheid added 12 points for the Elks, who led by seven at halftime.

• BLAINE 59, OSSEO 51: The Bengals opened the Northwest Suburban contest with a 22-2 run and went on to beat the Orioles. Senior Allison Jablonsky scored 26 points and sophomore Theresa Mbanefo added 18 for the Bengals.

• FRIDLEY 70, CONCORDIA ACADEMY 60: Suzanne Gilreath, who leads the metro area in scoring with a 28.5 points-per-game average, had 37 to lead the Tigers to the Tri-­Metro Conference victory. Brooke Teff contributed 19 points for the Tigers, who raced to a 40-24 halftime lead. Anika Neuman scored 26 to lead the Beacons.
