The onset of colder weather has all but brought an end to major road construction projects, but there always is work to do .

Tonight, MnDOT crews will be out tightening guard rails and other repairs that need to be done before the snow flys. Those will result in lane closures. Here is when and where you'll find them.

Tonight:

Westbound 494 will be shut down from East Bush Lake Road and Hwy. 169 from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m. Also look for intermittent lane closures between 34th Avenue S. and Hwy. 100 in Bloomington for guard rail work and repainting of lanes. That will begin at 7 p.m. on most nights from today through Nov. 30.

Also look for the right lane on northbound Hwy. 169 to be closed from 7 p.m. to 1 a.m. between Anderson Lakes Pkwy. and 494.

In Minneapolis, northbound 35W will be reduced to a single lane from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. between 46th Street and E. 36th Street. Crews will be installing a new overhead message sign.

Portions of two highways in the east metro will be closed overnight to allow for crews to move two historic buildings. The Shoddy Mill and Warehouse, both listed on the National Register of Historic Places, will be relocated to near the River Oasis Cafe on the St. Croix riverbank in Stillwater.

To get them there, Hwy. 95 will be closed from 10 p.m. to 5 a.m. between Point Road and the southern end of Main Street in Stillwater. Hwy. 36 in both directions will be off limits to motorists between Chestnut Street and Hwy. 95. Detours will be posted.

Thursday will bring lane closures on Hwy. 100. The onn and off ramps at Humboldt Avenue will be closed from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. to allow new lamps to be installed in the overhead lights. In related utility work, eastbound 694 will be reduced to one lane from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Hwy. 252.
