Twins outfielder Delmon Young is going play about seven innings in an extended spring training game today then hop on a plane for the Twin Cities and be activated in time for Friday's series opener against the Blue Jays.

Young, who hasn't played since Apr. 18 and is batting .228 with no homers, has recovered from a left oblique strain. The Twins are expected to announce a roster move tomorrow to make room for Young. If Trevor Plouffe (hamstring) isn't 100 perecent he could land on the DL to make room for his good friend. If he's healthy, then Rene Tosoni or Ben Revere could return to Class AAA Rochester.

Jim Thome, working his way back from a back strain (he's on the DL for a left oblique strain) is scheduled to get 3-4 at bats today. There's no word on when he'll return.

Jason Repko arrived in Florida last night as he recovers from a quad strain. He's a few days away from playing in games.

Tsuyoshi Nishioka is working out daily but his movements have been limited until he works all the soreness out of the left fibula he broke on Apr, 7. Sounds like he's several days away from trying to play in games. Nevertheless, the Japanese media has arrived in Fort Myers for daily stakeouts.

A couple quick minor league notes:

Outfielder Oswaldo Arcia, who put up big numbers at Elizabethton last year and was batting .352 with 5 homers and 18 RBI in 20 games at Class A Beloit, had surgery to clean out his elbow and will miss a couple months.

It might be better late than never for former Gopher Cole Devries. Devries, 26, has a 0.87 ERA in 11 games for Class AA New Britain with 29 strikeouts in 20.2 innings. Since becoming a reliever, he's junked his slider and rediscovered his curveball, with good results.

Righthander Alex Wimmers, last year's first-round pick, is scheduled to pitch in an extended spring training game today. It's his first action since his first start for Class A Fort Myers when he walked all six batters he faced and was removed from the rotation to work on his control.
