POLANCO WALKS INSTEAD OF GOING FOR CYCLE: Jorge Polanco hit a double, homer and single in his first three plate apperances on Tuesday and had two shots to hit a triple for the cycle. ``My teammates say, `You need a triple. Come on, let's go.' " Polanco said. ``You have to think it because they mentioned it." But Polanco stuck to his plan and did not want to chase bad pitches. ``I wait for my pitch," he said. Polanco popped to third in the sixth then drew a walk in his last at bat in the eighth. Polanco said he has never hit for the cycle in his career. Minors or winter ball. But he does have four three-hit games over the last month.

EVERYTHING CLICKING FOR DOZIER RIGHT NOW: You would think that after hitting your 40th home run you would relax even more and start bashing the ball. Brian Dozier has stuck to his plan throughout his torrid second half and it has paid off even when he doesn't homer. There have been rare moments where he looked like he was trying to pull pitches he shouldn't. On Tuesday he hit a single in the first, legged out a double in the third when Cameron Maybin was slow getting the ball back into the infield. He popped out in the fourth but walked in the fifth and got an infield single in the eighth. For all the power Dozier has showed, his .280 batting average easily is a career high. He's not drunk on power.

BERRIOS TO START ON FRIDAY IS A GOOD THING: Twins manager Paul Molitor announced that Jose Berrios will start on Friday against the Mets. ``Getting him back on the mound is the best thing," he said. ``Let's see how he responds." Molitor and pitching coaches Neil Allen and Eddie Guardado spoke with Berrios in recent days about the pressure to preform to expectations, his fastball command, trusting his pitches, a lot of things. ``I think we made some headway," Molitor said. We'll see. But it's good that he gets to work through his problems as a starter. There's nothing to lose.
