Because he hasn't been able to see some of his key players together on the court so far this pre-season, Rick Adelman will focus on getting guys like Kevin Love, Luke Ridnour and Andrei Kirilenko together for long stretches in tonight's game.

Not that any one player will play a ton of minutes. It's just that injuries have prevented Ridnour and Kirilenko, especially, from working together. "I have no set plan or anything like that," Adelman said. "I think I will try to get a number of people into the game. (But) it's important to see combinations that haven't been able to play together."

Adelman said Malcolm Lee probably could play, but won't, because he hasn't practiced with the team enough since getting totally healthy.

Adelman said Ricky Rubio is set to see the doctor for a checkup in a few weeks. Rubio's rehab is on schedule, Adelman said.

Jerry had a nice story in today's paper talking about how Adelman and Maccabi Haifa coach Brad Greenberg go way back.

Greenberg, who has had a long career at all levels of basketball, knows a lot of people in a career that now has him working in Israel. "When you've been in this game long enough you run into a lot of people," he said. "I don't know what that means other than I'm old."

Greenberg had dinner Monday night with another old friend, Gophers coach Tubby Smith, at J.D. Hoyts.

Greenberg's team have a pretty intense stretch coming up. They leave Wednesday to head back to Israel, a 27-hour trek that includes multiple flights and a long bus ride home after landing in Tel Aviv.
