Maryland (2-1) turned heads with its 51-41 victory at Texas to open the season, but coach D.J. Durkin's Terrapins have endured mainly bad luck since. They lost starting QB Tyrrell Pigrome to a torn ACL against the Longhorns, then backup Kasim Hill tore an ACL against Central Florida last week.

Terrapins receiver D.J. Moore (pictured) leads the Big Ten in receiving yards (104.3) and receptions (7.3) per game and is tied for the lead with four TD catches. Against Texas, Moore caught seven passes for 133 yards and a TD.

Gophers offense vs. Terrapins defense

Minnesota's formula — run the ball, pop some passes, control the clock — has worked well, with QB Conor Rhoda making plays. The return of RBs Rodney Smith and Shannon Brooks should be a boost. Advantage: Gophers
