A boy's visit to an art museum turns into an adventure when statues move, the subjects of paintings laugh and ancient Egyptian scrolls turn into — well, it's hard to explain. David LaRochelle's new picture book, "Arlo's Artrageous Adventure!," published by Sterling is bright and lively, with little flaps for children to open to find out what's really going on inside the staid museum.

LaRochelle, who lives in White Bear Lake, won a Minnesota Book Award for "It's a Tiger!" and is the author of two other picture books published this year — "How Martha Saved Her Parents From Green Beans," illustrated by Mark Fearing, and "Moo!," illustrated by Mike Wohnoutka.

He will launch "Arlo" at 2 p.m. Aug. 24 at the Red Balloon in St. Paul and will be at Debra Frasier's Alphabet Forest on Aug. 29 at the Minnesota State Fair.
