About 100 leaders of farmers' markets across the state will meet Tuesday to share ideas about sales, profitability and customer service.

The Minnesota Farmers' Market Association annual meeting and spring conference will occur from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. March 17 in Monticello, at the city's community center, 505 Walnut Street.

The meeting is designed for vendors, managers and stakeholders of the more than 200 farmers' markets in the state, and will feature guest speakers and workshops.

Topics will include strategies to ensure customer service, research-based marketing, food safety, licensing and optimal preservation of produce.

Speakers will also discuss ag micro-loans, Hmong-American experience at farmers' markets, healthy food education efforts and produce donation programs.

Local food will be served at breaks and lunch, sourced from area farmers and prepared by the Cornerstone Café.
