Each week, commenter RandBallsStu (branding!) writes about a Minnesota sports figure about whom you might have forgotten. Stu, who like your humble proprietor and noted soccer enthusiast Dana Wessel is followed on Twitter by Chrissy Teigen, tries not to get us in trouble but sometimes fails. Stu?-------------- The Hunt Down Name: Steve DeBus Claim to Fame, Minnesota: a goaltender for your Minnesota Golden Gophers hockey team from 1995-1998. Made first-team All-WCHA in the 1996-97 season, as the plucky underdogs continued to labor in the twin shadows of St. Cloud State and Minnesota State-Mankato. DeBus played high school hockey, or "puck" as aficionados call it, for Rochester Mayo. Claim to Fame, Everywhere Else: DeBus is the guy who gave up this goal to Michigan's Mike Legg. When asked for comment on this game, RandBall weekend editor Jon Marthaler broke all of his living room furniture in a blind rage. Where He Is Now: is entering his fourth year as the head coach for your Hamline women's hockey program. Is He on Twitter: no. Has He Been in a Twitter Feud with Patrick Reusse: no.Glorious Randomness: was going to say that DeBus was the most famous alum from Mayo who wasn't one of the Miller twins, but I forgot about Lea Thompson.
