Just in time for Tuesday's All-Star Game, short segments of two streets in downtown Minneapolis near Target Field now commerate Twins legends Kirby Puckett and Rod Carew.

The stretch of 7th Street between 2nd Av. N. to just north of Target Field, that's parallel to the first-base line, honors Kirby Puckett, the Hall of Fame outfielder who led the Twins to World Series titles in 1987 and 1991. He is the Twins' all-time leader in hits, doubles, runs and total bases.

The portion of 2nd Avenue N. between 6th and 7th Streets pays tribute to Rod Carew. The block includes the corner where the bronze statue in the likeness of the 18-time All-Star in his familiar crouch stands.

Black and white signs to honor the Twins greats have been posted on their respective streets, but neither is being officially renamed. Two other streets are already named in their honor and will not be changed, said city spokesman Casper Hill.

Kirby Puckett Place runs between 5th and 4th Streets in front of the former Metrodome. Rod Carew Drive is a one-block street loacted directly south of Twins' old home between 6th and 7th Streets.
