A storm packing strong winds blew through a large swath of Minnesota on Sunday night, with large hail and tornadoes reported in some parts of the state.

In Stearns County, the storm ripped the roof of a shed in Cold Spring, according to the National Weather Service. In Minneapolis, two cars were crushed by a tree that fell near Lake Calhoun. One of the vehicles was traveling on W. Calhoun Parkway at the time with four passengers, and one of the passengers was taken to a hospital for injuries that were not life-threatening, according to media reports.

In Pope County, spotters reported a funnel cloud around 6:15 p.m., as well as large hail. A tornado was also spotted 6 miles northwest of Montevideo in Chippewa County. Minnesota Power, based in Duluth, said that thousands of customers were without power Sunday evening, according to the Duluth News Tribune.

A hazardous weather warning remained in effect for more than 40 counties in the state, stretching from western Minnesota to northwest Wisconsin.
