Eyeglass frame sale There is no shortage of "$39 eyeglass frame sales," but the fine print usually requires a lens purchase, which often negates the savings. But a lens purchase with frame is not required at the Vision of Hope $39 frame sale. The sale includes more than 10,000 adult and kids frames from optical offices that have closed and previous season's inventories, including Silhouette, Polo, Armani, Hugo Boss, Jones New York, Coda and Gucci.
If you have a strong prescription with progressive lenses, I recommend purchasing lenses at Costco, which cost a lot less and are rated highly by Consumer Reports. During the $39 sale, prices for single-vision lenses are $59, or $189 for Varilux progressive lenses (high-index material extra).
The sale will be from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday and 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Sunday at the Crown Plaza Hotel (11 E. Kellogg Blvd., St. Paul). Shakopee the place to be Small businesses in Shakopee have the right idea. Pull together around a common event: the Canterbury Park Autumn Festival Arts & Crafts Fair, held through Sunday. Four businesses will be holding warehouse/liquidation sales with big savings on gourmet soups, coffee, gift wrapping supplies and candles.
The soup ladies sale, with dried soup, beverage and dessert mixes continues through Sunday at 1157 Valley Park Dr. S. (952-496-2887, www.gourmet foodwarehousesale.com). Gage & Gage's sale through Sunday includes wrapping paper, boxes and bows (660 Industrial Circle, 952-233-2081, www.gagewarehousesale.com).
Cameron's Coffee sale at 5700 12th Av. E. includes some organic and Rainforest Alliance-certified coffees through Saturday. Dianne's Candles sale at America's Best Value Inn (1244 Canterbury Rd., 952-746-5530) includes locally made candles in a variety of sizes, as well as gourmet desserts. Mention "Star Tribune" for 50 percent off one item. The sale continues through Sunday and Nov. 16-20.
Appliance warehouse sale At Warners' Stellian extreme warehouse sale, many items are special purchase, but others are floor models, scratch-and-dent or discontinued. It's one of the few times you'll find brands that rarely go on sale, including Asko, Bosch, Dacor, Big Green Egg, Miele, Thermador and Weber, as well as Amana, GE, LG and Whirlpool. The sale is from 7 a.m. to 5 :30 p.m. Saturday and 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday (550 Atwater Circle, St. Paul, 651-222-0011, www.warnersstellian.com).
Two jewelry sales Sample sales devoted to jewelry aren't common in the Twin Cities, but this month two sales include discounts of 50 to 75 percent off locally made items. The Teresa Goodall sale from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday (2806 W. Broadway, Mpls., 612-522-6286) includes necklaces from $5 to $40, earrings from $4 to $14, bracelets for $6 and pins for $5. The jewelry is made from glass, bone, horn, stone and vintage resin on linen cord or ribbon.
Lonnie Lovness' sale (321 S. Main St., Stillwater, 651-430-2234, www.lonnielovness.com) will be from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Nov. 19. Styles are art-inspired semiprecious stones, pearls, bone and leather. Most items will be $5 to $25 with some sterling pieces for up to $150.
