Alexandria area: Milton and Ida lakes appear to be the best lakes for walleye action on deeper weed edges using night crawlers or leeches. The chain of the lakes are producing good bass and northern action. Bass are taking plastic baits at 12-15 feet, and northerns are taking bigger minnows or crankbaits. Lake Darling has good panfish action.

Lake of the Woods: The north side seems to be producing the best walleye action using a jig and minnow or drifting with spinners at about 20-25 feet. The Lighthouse Gap, at about 15-20 feet, is also a good spot.

Lake Minnetonka: The main bays — Brown, Smith, Wayzata — are the best spots for walleye during the evenings at about 26-28 feet using fathead minnows with jigs. Good bass action is scattered throughout the lake using Senko Bait at 10-12 feet near weedlines. For Northerns, anglers are using spinner baits or sucker minnows near weedlines at about 12-15 feet. Muskie action is picking up in the flats during the evenings.

Lake Vermilion: The east side is still doing much better than the west side for walleye, muskie and bass. For walleyes, Fectos Point and Greenwood Bay are the best spots using crawlers or leeches; bass are being caught using leeches or shad raps. On the west side, Norwegian Bay is the best spot for walleyes using slip bobbers with night crawlers. The Little Fork, Rice, and Sturgeon rivers are also providing good walleye action using slip bobbers with leeches.

Lake Winnibigoshish: Anglers are catching walleyes on the main lake bars using leeches or night crawlers at 18-21 feet. Deeper structures are nice spots for perch action at 15-20 feet. Northerns are taking spoons or sucker minnows near weedlines at 8-10 feet.

Leech Lake: Anglers are heading out to Sand Point, Cedar Point and Walker Bay near weedlines to catch walleyes using leeches or night crawlers at 10-14 feet. On Sucker Bay, anglers are using crawlers, spinners, or crankbaits for walleyes at 9-12 feet. Good spots for evening walleye are on the humps in Walker Bay, from Sand Point to Cedar Point, or on the Goose Island Flats using crankbait. Muskie action has picked up on the rocks and weeds.
