The University of St. Thomas has named Stefanie Lenway, the business school dean at Michigan State University, to succeed Christopher Puto as the dean of its Opus College of Business.
Lenway, 63, will take the role of Opus Distinguished Chair at the University of St. Thomas on Aug. 1. Lenway is a researcher, author and consultant on global technology innovation.
From 1984 to 2005 Lenway was at the University of Minnesota's Carlson School of Management and rose from assistant professor to associate dean. She was dean of the College of Business Administration at the University of Illinois at Chicago from 2005 to 2010 and then moved to ÂMichigan State.
"Stefanie is a strategic, creative thinker who sees opportunities and knows how to take advantage of them," University of St. Thomas President Julie Sullivan said.
Lenway is married to Thomas Murtha, a professor of management who joined the Opus College of Business in 2013. Lenway and Murtha have collaborated frequently on papers and articles on international business.
Lenway is currently traveling overseas and was unavailable for an interview, but in the news release she praised her predecessor. "Dean Chris Puto has assembled an outstanding faculty during his years at St. Thomas, and leading the Opus College of Business to its [national] accreditation was a tremendous accomplishment," she said.
