One of several women involved in a ring in which allegedly hundreds of identities were stolen pleaded guilty this week.

Shauntell R. Burg, 32, of St. Paul pleaded guilty in Ramsey County District Court on Thursday to identity theft. Burg and three other women were accused of stealing between 350 to 500 identities.

As part of the plea deal, one count of identity theft was dismissed and the county attorney's office agreed not to file three other cases against her. Burg agreed to testify against the others and provide $1,000 restitution to each victim plus the actual losses in two identity theft cases.

According to the complaint: Roxanne K. Deflorin obtained identities and Social Security numbers from the Minnesota Department of Labor and Industry (DLI), where she worked from October 1994 to September 2004, and from going through trash.

Last August, authorities found 355 identities at her home in the 700 block of Thomas Avenue in St. Paul, including 269 members of the Public Employees Retirement Association of Minnesota, the charges said. Eight identities were from workers' compensation claims from the DLI database.

A forged check in June 2012 led investigators to Burg, who told them that she obtained her names from Kristin R. Warren, who allegedly received them from Deflorin in exchange for drugs, the complaints said.

Information from Burg led authorities to surveillance video of several transactions that allegedly show Andrea L. Gunderson using four identities to buy or pick up items, the complaints said. Gunderson and Burg then allegedly pawned the items across the metro to make money off their fraudulent purchases.

Burg was arrested in August with three thumb drives containing 144 identities in her pocket. Her sentencing is scheduled for December.
