St. Paul singer Ashley DuBose made it past the battle round on NBC's "The Voice" last night, moving her past the head-to-head portion of the show to be one of 24 finalists.

The 23-year-old single mom and Twin Cities club performer beat out country-ish singer Justin Blake, with whom she sang that most classic of boy/girl duets, "Just a Fool," by "Voice" coaches Christina Aguilera and Blake Shelton (I'd never heard the song before, either).

Both singers impressed their coach Adam Levine, but ultimately Levine picked DuBose because he said she's "prepared to deal with all the things I know is coming."

You can see a snippet of DuBose's performance in the clip below (starting at :50). This year's other Minnesotan contestant, Hopkins native Holly Henry, will compete in the battle round in the coming weeks.
