A juror's medical problem on Tuesday led a Ramsey County judge to recess until Wednesday afternoon the trial of a man accused of orchestrating the group rape of a 15-year-old girl in St. Paul last year.

Mang Yang, 24, faces four felony charges, including first-degree criminal sexual conduct and committing a crime for the benefit of a gang.

He's among nine men and juveniles, ages 15 through 37 at the time, who were accused of arranging for all of them to rape the tenth-grader in an abandoned house in the 200 block of White Bear Avenue on Nov. 17, 2011.

The assault was stopped, after the first assailant penetrated her, when someone yelled that the police had been called and the nine ran off.

Tuesday, Judge Gregg Johnson told jurors that one of them, a man, had needed emergency surgery Tuesday, but he may be well enough to resume jury duty on Wednesday. The defense portion of the trial is to continue then.

Yang is among four defendants who have yet to be convicted or cleared. Four others are serving sentences in prison, and one more is in a juvenile facility.
