TWINS UPDATE

Nolasco spent his most recent bullpen session working with pitching coach Rick Anderson on getting better command of his fastball. Nolasco has been struggling lately, and the Twins believe he will get on a roll once he makes the adjustments needed to throw more strikes with the fastball. … Joe Mauer is batting .375 with five doubles and 10 RBI during his 10-game hitting streak. It's his first streak of at least 10 games since he had a 15-game streak from April 30-May 18 of last season. … Oswaldo Arcia was 0-for-4 on Sunday, but Twins manager Ron Gardenhire said Arcia is starting to take better at-bats and is showing signs of coming out of his batting funk. … Eduardo Nunez is batting .389 with two home runs off Shields and is 5-for-12 against Vargas. … The Twins lead the season series 4-2.

ROYALS UPDATE

The Royals have had their trouble offensively but have batted around 15 times this season. … Alex Gordon had another outfield assist on Sunday. He has 60 assists since becoming a full-time outfielder in 2011, the most in the majors in that time. … Former Twin Danny Valencia is with the Royals and drove in a run Sunday for the first time in eight games. … A few Royals players have hit Correia well, including Billy Butler (.353), Lorenzo Cain (.583), Omar Infante (.381) and Mike Moustakas (.429). … The Royals pulled off a walk-off victory against the Angels on Sunday but are 3-7 over their last 10 games.
