The scene in and around U.S. Bank Stadium Sunday was special.

The mostly purple fan base flooded the streets four hours before kickoff. Tailgating lots turned into dance parties. Fans cheered as the stadium's massive glass doors opened for the first Vikings regular-season game in their new home. Several Green Bay players helped hold a U.S. flag the size of a football field during the national anthem. The halftime show turned the stadium purple in a tribute to Prince. Vikings fans erupted like thunder after a late touchdown helped seal the 17-14 victory over rival Green Bay. Many of the 66,813 in attendance lingered after the game still enjoying the scenes in the state-of-the-art building.

I roamed the stadium and nearby attractions Sunday capturing the experience on our Snapchat (username: startribune) and Instagram Stories (@StribSports). The short video (also attached above) will give you a fun behind-the-scenes look at what it was like to be in attendance for Sunday's special occasion and what many were calling a "history day" in Minneapolis.
