Gophers men's basketball coach Richard Pitino will hire former Wisconsin-Milwaukee head coach Rob Jeter to fill his vacant assistant coaching position, sources told the Star Tribune on Monday.

Jeter, an assistant at Nevada-Las Vegas since 2016, compiled a 184-170 record at UWM from 2005 to 2016, including two NCAA tournament berths, two Horizon League tournament and regular-season titles. He was Horizon League Coach of the Year in 2011. Jeter was a longtime assistant coach under Bo Ryan at Wisconsin-Platteville and Wisconsin. He also played for Ryan at Platteville.

Jeter, 48, will replace Kimani Young on Pitino's staff and become the lead recruiter. Young took a job on Danny Hurley's staff at Connecticut.
