Three parkways under the juristiction of the Minneapolis Parks and Recreation department are getting some much-needed care starting this week. Resurfacing and smoothing of pavement began this week or will begin next week on Cedar Lake Parkway, Minnehaha Parkway and Theodore Wirth Parkway.

Here is what is or will be happening. The work will be done by the Minneapolis Public Works Department:
Cedar Lake Parkway:

Some concrete curbs will be replaced, but the major project here is stripping the current layer of ashphalt and replacing it. This will impact the segment from I-394 to Xerxes Avenue S. It will take about two weeks and begin sometime next week.

E. Minnehaha Parkway:

Fresh ashphalt will be applied once the top 7 inches of pavement is taken up. Some curb and gutters also will be replaced. This project will take 5 to 7 weeks and got underway this week. Two sections are or will be affected: Cedar Avenue to Longfellow Avenue and Woodlawn Avenue to 38th Avenue S.

Both directions of Minnehaha will be affected while the work is done. There will be detours, road closures and parking restrictions. Signs will be posted, so be sure to take note.

Theodore Wirth Parkway:

Mill and over lay of the asphalt surface along with curb and gutter repair will take place this week from Hwy. 55 to Plymouth Road and then north of Plymouth Road. Detours and parking restrictions will be in place.
