A government recall has been issued for tens of thousands of potentially faulty step ladders imported from China by an Eden Prairie company and sold at Home Depots around the country.

The recall covers 84,000 Easy Reach three-step ladders, whose top platform has reported breaking in five instances, according to a notice issued Thursday by the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC). Minor injuries were reported in one of those cases.

The ladders were imported by Tricam Industries Inc. and sold under the Gorilla Ladders label at Home Depots from April through August for about $27. The specific model is HB3-PRO, with the number located on the underside of the middle step on a blue label.

The CPSC is urging customers to immediately stop using the ladders and seek a full refund by contacting Tricam toll-free at 1-855-336-0360 from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday. Or consumers can visit www.gorillaladders.net and click on "Recall" for more information.
