Twins infielder Nick Punto will undergo right wrist surgery today in Phoenix, but is expected to return for the start of spring training, General Manager Bill Smith said today.
Punto had the wrist checked this week in the Twin Cities, and the surgery will be a "clean up," Smith said.
"He is expected to be ready when position players report [to spring training Feb. 26]," Smith said. "Because it's not a serious issue, we felt it was better to get it taken care of."
