After finishing her routine on the uneven parallel bars in the Class 2A individual state meet Saturday, Trollen jumped excitedly into the arms of her coach, Chris Muras, and hung on tightly. After a season spent struggling to perfect the routine, she and everyone close to her knew she had finally done it. On the biggest stage of the season, no less.

"I haven't been able to keep my feet up and land the double backflip [dismount] all year and I finally hit it," Trollen said. "My coaches said it was great timing. If I was going to hit it, I couldn't have picked a better time."

Already among the leaders for the all-around title, Trollen said her effort on the bars — her next-to-last event of the meet — earned her a score of 9.55. It was the springboard she needed to win the all-around championship with a season-high score of 38.3, two-tenths of a point higher than teammate and friend Wren Anderson. She also won the balance beam (9.55) and finished second in the floor exercise (9.675).

With that performance, Trollen ended her gymnastics career. She will attend Arizona State next year, but has no plans to pursue gymnastics.

"This is an amazing way to finish," she said.

Blake • hockey

The Princeton-bound forward had 10 goals and 15 total points in three state tournament games, leading the Bears to the Class 1A championship. She finished her career as the leading goal-scorer in tournament history with 22.

AARON CASHMAN

Mound Westonka • wrestling

The sophomore remained undefeted on the season after winning the 106-pound championship at the Class 3A, Section 6 meet. Cashman, ranked No. 1 in Class 3A at 106, pinned all three of his opponents in a combined time of 2:41, improving to 40-0 on the season.

MALLARY DICK

Big Lake • gymnastics

A severely injured left ankle had little effect on the senior's performance on the uneven parallel bars at the Class 1A state meet. She nailed her routine and stuck the landing, smiling through the pain, to win the event with a score of 9.725.

ALEXA DOBCHUK

Eden Prairie • hockey

Few positions in sports are more vital to team success than goalie in hockey and Dobchuk, a sophomore, was a stalwart in net in the Eagles' run to the Class 2A state title. In three state tournament games, she had one shutout, allowed just four total goals and posted a .948 save percentage.

TREVOR JANICKE

Maple Grove • hockey

The freshman forward was a central figure in Maple Grove's run to the Class 2A, Section 5 final. Janicke, who has committed to play at Notre Dame, had two assists in a 6-1 victory over Spring Lake Park and a hat trick and two assists in a 6-3 semifinals victory over No. 2-ranked Blaine.

TRE JONES

Apple Valley • basketball

The sophomore guard posted the first triple-double in team history with 23 points, 10 rebounds and 11 assists in an 81-62 victory over Rosemount. Three days earlier he scored 34 points in a 70-62 victory over Lakeville North.
