MARLEY ALLISON

Edina, football

Allison had his best game of the season in Friday's 20-17 victory over Wayzata, which is saying a lot considering how well the senior receiver has played.

He had eight catches for 149 yards and the game-winning touchdown, a 97-yard catch-and-run in the fourth quarter.

"It was a fade and I caught it about 20 yards downfield," Allison said. "The safety was catching up to me and I was worried I wasn't going to score, but I gave him a stiff-arm and kind of dragged him into the end zone."

He also picked off a pass, had two kick returns for 49 yards and punted six times as the Hornets handed Wayzata its first Lake Conference loss since 2009.

"It's a great feeling to play like this when we're winning," he said.

Allison has a metro-leading 43 catches through seven games for 636 yards and four touchdowns. His most clutch reception was two weeks ago when he caught an 11-yard scoring pass in overtime to give the Hornets a 27-20 victory over Minnetonka.

Next up is No. 1-ranked Eden Prairie. Considering how well Edina is playing, Allison is feeling confident.

"I feel like we have all the momentum and hype," he said. "Even before the season, people have been asking if we can beat Eden Prairie. It's going to be a good game."

The 5-8 junior running back towered over St. Paul Academy in the Bears' 55-14 victory, rushing for 220 yards and five touchdowns and turning his only pass reception into a 40-yard touchdown.

Now in her sixth varsity season, Donahue won two singles matches in the Class 2A, Section 3 team tournament to improve her season record to a perfect 19-0. She is the No. 1 seed in the section singles tournament.

EJODAMEN EJIYA

Spring Lake Park, football

The junior running back/linebacker never left the field in the Panthers' 32-13 victory over Irondale. He rushed for 246 yards and scored three touchdowns and made 14 tackles, nine of them solo.

TAYLOR PERKINS

Lakeville North, cross-country

The senior won the 23-team Victoria Lions Invitational on Oct. 2 at the Chaska Par 30 Golf Course in a time of 14 minutes, 37.4 seconds, holding off Chanhassen's Anastasia Korzenowski by less than one second.

BRENDAN SAGE

St. Michael-Albertville, cross-country

The senior set a school record in winning the Class 2A race at Duluth's Swain Invitational on Saturday in a time of 15:53, four days after winning the St. Michael-Albertville Invitational in a course-record time of 16:01.

BECKY SINGLETARY

Minnehaha Academy, volleyball

The junior outside hitter was instrumental in two victories. She had 10 kills, nine digs and two aces as the Redhawks downed DeLaSalle and 15 kills and 21 digs in a four-set victory over Concordia Academy.
