DETROIT -- The Twins were contemplating more changes to their pitching staff after Tuesday's 8-6 win over the Tigers, as they might need another bullpen reinforcement soon.

On Wednesday, it's Brian Duensing vs. Justin Verlander. Duensing didn't record an out in the fifth inning in either of his first two starts, and the Twins bullpen has had to pitch five innings in each of the past two games. They owe both wins to the fact the relievers have turned in 10 scoreless innings.

Glen Perkins got another save tonight, pitching on his fourth consecutive day. Manager Ron Gardenhire and pitching coach Rick Anderson asked Perkins if he needed a night off before the game, and the lefthander said, "I want the ball."

"He won't win that argument tomorrow, I'll tell you that," Gardenhire said.

Perkins promised he wouldn't put up a fight. He joked that he actually didn't pitch four days in a row, since his outing here tonight came past midnight in a game delayed 90 minutes at the start by rain.

Jared Burton got his second consecutive night off, so the righthander should be ready Wednesday, Gardenhire said.

Cole De Vries arrived from Class AAA Rochester, taking Liam Hendriks' roster spot, and was available in the bullpen, just in case. De Vries isn't scheduled to pitch until Saturday, so he'd be available on Wednesday, too.

Anthony Swarzak pitched 2 2/3 innings on Monday, and Alex Burnett pitched 1 1/3 that night. I really don't know what the Twins will do; I don't think they knew as we were leaving the clubhouse.

But it's quite possible they'll pull Nick Blackburn from the rotation on Wednesday, either making him available in the bullpen later this week or replacing him with a fresh arm from Rochester. Stay tuned.
