If Big Ten Network's cameras are correct, it appeared Boston College defenseman Ian McCoshen saved the game with a two-hand catch.

The Fairbault, Minn., native reached behind his goaltender and stopped Taylor Cammarata's would-be game-winning goal and threw it out of harm's way with 1:51 left in overtime. However, if McCoshen did use two hands to catch the puck, it should have been a penalty and a Gophers power play.

The play was reviewed and confirmed no goal. Referees had left the arena once a request was made by media to discuss the ruling.

Gophers coach Don Lucia was told by the crew that it didn't cross the goal. He thought several penalties could have been called as a result of the dramatic save.

"They could have called a hand pass. … Or closed-hand the puck, which should be a penalty," Lucia said. "I just think it happened so quick that it was a tough call for the referee to really even see what went on. It's not like you can call a penalty when you go to replay. But you know what, they made the play."

And that play cost the Gophers a victory.
• Gophers defenseman Jake Parenteau took a hard fall and laid motionless for nearly minute in the first period of Friday night's 3-3 tie with Boston College.

Mariucci Arena was silent during the brief scare, but Parenteau eventually skated off the ice with help and headed to the locker room on his own accord.

He didn't return for the second period and it was later announced he would not return after suffering an upper body injury.

Parenteau's absence left the Gophers with only five defensemen just minutes after Boston College scored three goals in 71 seconds. The group was resilient, though, and never gave up a goal the rest of the game.

Coach Don Lucia hopes the senior will be back for Sunday afternoon's series finale.

"I think he got jarred a little bit. We're hoping he can play Sunday, so it's nothing that is going to be long term," Lucia said. "I thought our five [defensemen] did a good job. In that situation you can't hide anybody from their guys."
