Three people riding in a stolen vehicle were ejected when the driver crashed while fleeing police Monday morning in Plymouth, the State Patrol said.

Troopers surrounded the four-door Jeep Wrangler after it came to rest in a ditch on the ramp from Bass Lake Road to Interstate 494 around 8:30 a.m. Two of the occupants were taken to North Memorial Medical Center in Robbinsdale and two were checked by a trauma doctor at the scene, said spokeswoman Tiffani Nielson.

Numerous citizens had called the patrol to report a reckless and aggressive driver on eastbound I-94 near Hwy. 25 in Monticello. Calls kept coming in as the Jeep hit the ditch and passed cars on the shoulder while moving a "very high speed," as vehicle continued east into Rogers and Maple Grove, Nielson said.

At one point scanner chatter indicated the Jeep was going as fast as 100 miles per hour.

The State Patrol is also investigating possible hit-and-run crashes involving this vehicle, Nielson said.

Troopers spotted the Jeep in Maple Grove and attempted to stop it, but the driver continued onto southbound I-494. The driver took the ramp to Bass Lake Road and rolled the vehicle while attempting to get back onto northbound I-494, Nielson said.

Three people were ejected and the fourth remained in the vehicle, she said.

Conditions of the two people taken to the hospital were not immediately known.

No troopers were injured in the incident.
