A number of roads in St. Paul and Washington County will be closed Friday for the funeral of St. Paul police officer Josh Lynaugh.

Lynaugh, 30, died of a heart attack early Saturday, more than a week after a foot chase. His funeral will be held at the Cathedral of St. Paul on Friday starting at 10 a.m.

Roads that will be closed from 6 a.m. to 1 p.m. to accommodate the funeral procession are:

• Summit Avenue between Western and Marshall Avenues.

• Selby Avenue between Western and Summit Avenues.

• Dayton Avenue between N. Farrington Street and Summit Avenue.

Exceptions will be made for residents of the area and students and staff at St. Paul College. The school's parking lots will be accessible.

Lynaugh will be buried at the Fairview Cemetery in Stillwater. The procession will cause Osgood Avenue to be closed from 62nd Street N. to 65th Street N. from about 11 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. The procession also will cause delays along eastbound Hwy. 36 and northbound Osgood south of 62nd Street.

Lynaugh, a five-year veteran, had spotted a juvenile who was acting suspiciously, police have said. He and another officer pursued the juvenile on foot, eventually ticketing the juvenile for fleeing on foot and violating curfew. Lynaugh became ill and was taken to a hospital.
