Rep. Gregory Davids, R-Preston objected to a committee proposal that would remove $5 million from the small towns around Rochester. The House Tax Committee discussed expansion plans of the Mayo Clinic as a destination medical center.

Rep. Kim Norton, D-Rochester, listened as Rep. Davids threatened to withdraw his support from her bill. Mayo experts Mayo Dr. Brad Narr and Robert Dunn, president of Hammes Company, the lead consultant for Mayo's destination medical center plan waited to testify.

Rep. Ron Erhardt, D- Edina, offered Edina as a possible relocation destination for the Mayo Clinic because of its three golf courses and large number of doctors.

Rep. John Lesch objected to Mayo CEO John Noseworthy's 49-states remark, calling it "dumb, dumb, dumb."
