As a sign of respect for the victims of the terrible act of violence that was committed against innocent men, women, and children in Boston, Massachusetts, Governor Mark Dayton has signed a proclamation ordering all flags to be flown at half-staff at all state and federal buildings in the State of Minnesota from today, Tuesday, April 16, 2013, until sunset on Saturday, April 20, 2013, in memory of the victims of this tragedy.

Flags on Minnesota buildings are at half-staff in mournful remembrance of the victims of the bombing in Boston.
"A terrible act of violence was committed against innocent men, women, and children in Boston, Massachusetts," Gov. Mark "The victims and their families deserve our honor, respect, and remembrance."

The flags will continue to fly low through Saturday.

Minnesota Senators on Tuesday held a moment of silence to honor the victims, the first responders and members of the military.

"These moments in life are a reminder of how precious life is," said Sen. Scott Dibble, DFL-Minneapolis. Dibble had completed the Boston marathon a few hours before the explosions.

"It is also a reminder members of the fact that despite our differences here, at the end of the day, we really care about each other," Dibble said.
