The parent company of resale franchisers such as Plato's Closet and Play It Again Sports is planning a new retail strategy for gently used women's apparel and accessories for women ages 29-59.

Golden Valley-based Winmark Corp., which also owns Once Upon A Child and Music Go Round franchises, said Tuesday that the new concept should appeal to budget-conscious consumers.

CEO John Morgan called the idea a logical step. "There has been a major change in the consumer acceptance of gently used merchandise," he said. "Customers that will look for ways to intelligently manage budgets and to keep up with practical and fashionable clothing and accessories will find our new concept the perfect shopping experience."

As of December, Winmark had nearly $1 billion in sales and 968 franchises in operation under its various brands.
