It's true, fresh beer is the best beer and that is typically brewed by local breweries. However there are some fantastic beers to be had from out of state and here are some of the beers I wish were distributed here in Minnesota.

Firestone Walker: A brewery set in the heart of California that creates fantastic Barrel Aged beers such as Sucaba a monster of a Barleywine that weighs in at 13.5 ABV—and Parabola which is a chewy bourbon soaked Russian Imperial Stout. If there is one thing that Minnesota needs it is Barrel Aged beers available year-round.

The Bruery: Another brewery from California that focuses on Barrel Aged brews with interesting flavors. A couple that would be nice to have in our market would be Loakal Red which is a dry hopped Red Ale aged in oak barrels. Saison Rue would also be a welcome addition concocted with fruity wild yeast, rye, and is designed to put in the cellar for some delayed gratification.

New Glarus: This wonderful brewery sits just outside of Madison, Wisconsin and is known for the popular and delicious Spotted Cow Lager. What you may not know though is how good their Thumbprint Series is. Oud Bruin is part of this series and is a Flanders Ale with nice toffee notes that will only get better sitting in your cellar. Their Berliner Weiss is a tasty choice as well, made with Riesling grapes and five yeast strains.

Cigar City: A gem of a brewery located in Tampa Bay that puts out excellent beers such as the citrusy Jai Alai India Pale Ale and Cubano Espresso Brown Ale with cacao nibs. A trip to The Sunshine State would seem incomplete without a stop at their brewery.

Dogfish Head: Many people know of this brewery because of their big 90 Minute and 120 Minute IPAs but to have only tried both of those would be a shame. Dogfish Head is known for using bizarre ingredients to make unique beers such as Raison D'ȇtre and the sweet Midas Touch which are both worth trying.

Which beers would you like to see in our market?

Cheers!
