An Internet site seeking donations to help pay the funeral and medical expenses of two children who died and three who were injured when their car plunged into a St. Louis Park pond has been suspended for the time being, a family attorney said Tuesday.

The accident happened about 6 a.m. Nov. 21, when Marion Guerrido, 23, veered off the ramp leading from westbound Hwy. 7 to northbound Hwy. 100. Guerrido escaped uninjured, but the five children were unresponsive after being rescued from the submerged car.

Guerrido's 7-year-old son, Alarious Coleman-Guerrido, and Zen'Avia Rennie, 5, daughter of Guerrido's boyfriend, Julius Rennie, drowned. The others were hospitalized and continue to improve. They are Rennie's 6-year-old daughter, Zarihana Rennie; Guerrido's 5-year-old son, Amani Coleman-Guerrido, and Guerrido and Rennie's 1-year-old daughter, Aliyana Rennie.

"The [Internet] site is temporarily suspended as we work with people affected by the accident to put a written agreement in place regarding how the funds will be distributed," attorney Rick Petry said via e-mail.

"We have an agreement in principle, and I'm working on the written agreement," Petry said. "I hope to have it finished and signed off on by everyone in the next day or so."

Nearly $20,000 in donations was collected within the fund's first two weeks.

A preliminary investigation indicates that Guerrido may have overcorrected on the wet road. No alcohol was detected, but the State Patrol said Guerrido had only a driver's permit and was required to have an adult with a driver's license in the car with her.

Investigators haven't said whether the children were wearing seat belts.
