A 31-year-old Minneapolis man was killed and another critically wounded in a shooting early Sunday outside a Minneapolis bar, authorities said.

The Hennepin County medical examiner's office identified the homicide victim as Reginald A. Haynes Sr., who lived in the 1400 block of Dupont Av. N.

According to the Minneapolis Police Department:

Officers went to Mortimer's, at the intersection of W. Franklin and Lyndale avenues, shortly after 2 a.m. and found two men outside with gunshot wounds.

The victims were taken by ambulance to Hennepin County Medical Center, where Haynes died. The other ma remains hospitalized.

Police said that it appears the shooter and victims might have known one another and that the shooting stemmed from a verbal altercation that happened earlier Saturday night.

Homicide investigators were interviewing witnesses, but police have not arrested a suspect or released details about who might have been the shooter.

A few regulars at Mortimer's on Sunday morning said the shooting happened in the smoking cage outside the bar, where a few bullet holes still were evident.

Anyone with information is asked to call the police tip line at 612-692-8447.
