Jarius Wright had grown accustomed to people pestering him about it on social media. And some Vikings teammates were involved in it, too.

So this summer, Wright decided to join a fantasy football league.

"I hear everybody always talking about it," he said. "So I was like, 'You know what, I'm going to see what this fantasy football thing is all about.'"

The wide receiver, now in his fifth season in the league, signed up for a random league online. The other fantasy football players in his league don't know that an actual NFL wide receiver is playing alongside them.

"They have no idea," Wright said. "And that's the fun part of it."

Wright drafted quarterback Matt Ryan, running back Melvin Gordon and wide receivers Dez Bryant and Donte Moncrief, among others. Stefon Diggs, the Vikings' top pass-catcher, is also on Wright's fantasy squad.

But Wright, who was inactive in three of the team's first four games this season, did not draft Jarius Wright. He picked himself up off waivers only recently, after he had started to get back into the mix offensively.

"Hey, you've got to do what you've got to do," he said with a laugh.

Wright is pretty hands-off. He sets his lineup at the start of each week and checks back on Monday or Tuesday to see if he won or lost. He certainly isn't tweeting at Bryant or DeSean Jackson to put up more points.

"[Some fans] complain about their fantasy football teams but this is our livelihood. This is real life for us," Wright said. "We don't care about your fantasy team. We want to have a good game because we want to win."

The Vikings, his top priority, are 5-1 heading into tonight's game against the Bears. But how is Wright's fantasy team doing? "Not good."

Near the halfway point of his rookie season as a fantasy football player, Wright said he is still trying to figure out what the fuss is all about.

"It's not as good as it's hyped to be," the 26-year-old receiver said.
