A police pursuit early Tuesday in south Minneapolis ended when the fleeing driver in a stolen Jeep crashed into a Metro Transit bus.

A second vehicle also was hit by the Jeep, which came to rest upside down in the front yard of a home at the intersection of 35th Street and Nicollet Avenue S., said Sgt. Catherine Michal of the Minneapolis Police Department.

A woman who had been in the Jeep was arrested at the scene, but two male suspects fled on foot and have not been found, Michal said.

The Metro Transit bus driver and the driver of a red sedan were taken to Hennepin County Medical Center where they were being treated for non-life threatening injuries, Michal said.

Officers on patrol around 2:45 a.m. saw the Jeep near Lake Street and Hiawatha Avenue S. They attempted to stop it, but the Jeep took off. As the Jeep traveled west on 35th Street, it ran into a northbound Route 18 bus and the second vehicle at Nicollet Avenue. There were no passengers on the Metro Transit bus, police said.

The Jeep then struck a tree and landed on the porch of a house. No one inside the home was hurt.

A short time later a second vehicle was stolen from the 3300 block of Nicollet Avenue S. Police say that theft is possibly related.
