Decker, Diadra Louise age 71, passed away peacefully on October 30, 2016, at her home residence, in Inver Grove Heights, MN with her lifetime companion of 38 years Don Heian keeping vigil. She was born on December 23, 1944, in Greenville, TX, the daughter of the late James and Jane (Miller) Decker. Her early childhood was spent in Willow Run and Dearborn, Michigan with her younger brother (Jim), mother and father. After high school graduation from Edsel Ford High School in 1963, her formal education included degrees from Wayne State University Monteith College, Bachelor of Philosophy with Distinction (1971). She was awarded a Bush Leadership Fellow (1983) which enabled her to pursue her Masters of Arts in Management at Simmons College, Boston (1984). Diadra was President of the MN Chapter of the National Assoc. of Women Business Owners (1988). Diadra ran her own Consulting Business in the mid 1980's and held positions at Cray Research and 3M as technical writer. She was a founder of WaterLegacy.org and served as President from 2009 to 2015. Diadra has been a citizen activist leader all her life and worked on many environmental issues. Throughout her adult life, Diadra maintained a Healing Practice for the integration of body, mind, and spirit. Memorial service 11AM, Thursday, November 3, at the Minnesota Landscape Arboretum, Snyder Auditorium, 3675 Arboretum Dr., Chaska. Memorial gifts to environmental charities are welcome in her name.
