Nugent, Janice Fay aka Neugent On the evening of April 25, 2016, Janice passed away peacefully of natural causes at the Home Sweet Home long term care facility in Mesa, AZ. She was being visited and comforted by family members at the time of her passing. Janice was born on September 9th, 1935 in the town of Bronson in Kittson County, Minnesota. She was the youngest of three children born to Nels Norman Aslakson and Selma Florence Olson, and was later adopted by Earl Souder. After a challenging childhood, Janice moved to Minneapolis, MN and flew as an airline stewardess or a time. She met and married Fred Earl Nugent and together they raised four children. They loved to go on fishing trips as a family, traveling to the Lake of the Woods and Florida amongst other places. After Fred passed away in 1987, Janice found solace in ballroom dancing. She met many dear friends and travelled extensively, teaching dance aboard cruise ships with her partner. Janice was active in the United States Amateur Ballroom Dancers Association. Eventually she made Greenfield Village in Mesa, Arizona her home, where she was universally liked by friends and neighbors. Besides dancing she was very active in community sports, particularly playing tennis. She maintained her friendships and independence even as her health began to deteriorate. Her family visited frequently before and during her illness. Janice was preceded in death by her father, mother, husband, brother Arlen Eugene Aslakson, and half-sister Erlyce Florence Souder. She is survived by brother Neil Lydel Souder, half-sister Sharon Ilona Souder, son Jay Mark Neugent, son Todd James Neugent, daughter Kimber Lynn Starr, son Michael F Neugent, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Janice chose to donate her body. Later her cremated remains will be interred with her husband at Ft. Snelling Nation Cemetery in Minneapolis, MN after a family service of remembrance.
