A nurse previously disciplined by the Minnesota Board of Nursing lost her license recently for stealing a narcotic from her Mille Lacs area employer early this year, according to a board order.

Cristy J. Kintop became a licensed nurse in 1980. In 1987, she took Demerol, a narcotic, from cartridges meant for patients and refilled them with an antihistamine. Her license was suspended but then reinstated in 1989 after she completed chemical-dependency treatment.

Kintop again diverted Demerol for personal use in 1994 and twice in 1998. On at least two occasions she used the drug while on duty, the order stated.

In June, Kintop told the board that after two suspensions and several attempts at treatment, she no longer intends to work as a nurse.
