Downtown Cookhouse

With the former 601 Graves in downtown Minneapolis under new ownership, Cask Cookhouse has opened in the former Bradstreet Craftshouse space. As rumored, it looks like Loews Hotels brass is keeping Bradstreet's expansive cocktail menu, at least for now. So if you're hankering for that jasmine-tinged rye sour that was the Bradstreet Cocktail (now the Cask Cookhouse Cocktail), while Bradstreet's relocating to the old Rye Deli space, there's hope.

Shout is out

In other Block E news, dueling piano bar the Shout House is boogieing out of its current location when its lease ends in October and into the first floor of beleaguered Epic Nightclub. Shout House sales and marketing manager J.J. Woods said the new, larger space will give them 13,000 square feet, divided between the piano bar and a room with a "sports-bar-type feel." The current location remains open in the interim.

Bustin' back

One year after a fire forced Standish-Ericsson hotspot Buster's on 28th to close, the sorely missed beer-and-burger joint is making a comeback. According to a Facebook post this week, the south Minneapolis favorite was set to reopen Thursday after its lengthy renovation.

Iron Door to open

Uptown will be out of a rock club once Cause closes after this weekend's fifth anniversary-turned-farewell party. The space won't stay vacant long. Two managers from Mac's Industrial Sports Bar are opening a sports bar of their own named the Iron Door Pub in the Lyn-Lake space. Co-owner Dan Fehrenkamp said a lease is inked and he's targeting a Sept. 1 opening. Remodeling is slated to begin next week and he and partner Clint Matiska plan to knock out a wall separating the bar and venue side, add plenty of TVs and bump up tap beer offerings from six to 24. Cue the jokes about jocks chasing the skinny kids with guitars out of Uptown. But the neighborhood could do a lot worse than a solid Mac's-like pub.
