Who needs Sochi?
Crashed Ice comes back to downtown St. Paul for the third straight year this weekend, with another round of extreme ice-cross racing and gigantic crowds. The gladiators-on-ice event has become one of St. Paul's biggest draws since luring 100,000 people to the Cathedral of St. Paul area in its inaugural year. Gates open at 5 p.m. for Saturday's finals (6:45-9 p.m.) with an after-party at the Eagle Street Warming Tent (Kellogg Boulevard and Smith Avenue) featuring DJs Indy, Jonathan Ackerman, Mister Black and Joe Maz. Drink these donuts
It's hard to believe Glam Doll Donuts has only been around for a year, but the glazin' gals celebrate their Eat Street shop's first birthday Saturday. Bartenders at nearby Eat Street Social will be serving donut-inspired cocktails (Danish daiquiris? Apple fritter flips?), plus music from DJ Gigstopher Robin, an outdoor firepit, raffle prizes and of course, Glam Doll's sweet treats laden with punky pin-up panache.
