A new documentary, "The History of Hudson," is drawing interest from as far away as Virginia, Florida and Washington, the St. Croix County Historical Society said last week.

Because of the movie's popularity, more copies will be available by Tuesday. The movie raises money for the Historical Society to maintain the Octagon House Museum and also to produce other publications about local history, such as the recent book, "Hudson in the Early Days."

The three-hour movie (in a two-DVD set) takes viewers on a journey from the early French explorers to the 1950s, examining such milestones as the fur trade and lumber boom.

River Channel-Hudson/North Hudson Community Access Television will broadcast the movie throughout January. For dates and times see www.riverchannel.org/home/schedule. The Hudson Area Library has copies available for borrowing, and movies can be purchased by contacting Jacki Bradham at 715-386-3826 or at rbradham@pressenter.com.
