Gophers cornerback Jalen Myrick suffered a rib cage injury on the opening kickoff of Saturday's loss at Ohio State and is expected to remain in a Columbus hospital until Monday, interim coach Tracy Claeys said.

Myrick continued playing and combined with Briean Boddy-Calhoun on a sack of Cardale Jones before leaving to have X-rays. Claeys said Myrick will probably miss this Saturday's game at Iowa.

True freshman KiAnte Hardin came off the bench, replacing Myrick, and finished with five tackles, including his own tackle for a loss. Hardin also showed poise as a punt returner before the crowd of 108,000 people.

Claeys said he's not sure which, if any, players will be back from their injuries for the Iowa game. He noted on WCCO (830-AM), that wide receiver Eric Carter is going through the concussion protocol.

Claeys also said he's not sure if running backs Shannon Brooks (shoulder) and Rodney Smith (ankle) will be ready to return next week.
