DEEP BLUES FEST

Friday-next Sunday: With a rambling existence like the Delta bluesmen it celebrates, this one-of-a-kind three-day marathon of rustic string pickers, hillbilly stompers and punky roots rockers has bounced to different locations since its 2007 inception before finally settling at its founder Chris Johnson's authentic barbecue joint last year. Johnson now says he plans to move it out of Minnesota altogether next year. Either way, adventurous music lovers should not take this one for granted. Friday's lineup includes high-revving Indiana guitar/drums duo Left Lane Cruiser, a highlight on last year's well-reviewed Alive Records compilation from the fest, plus the Hooten Hallers, Charlie Parr and Purgatory Hill featuring Pat MacDonald of Timbuk3 fame. The rest of the weekend ranges from Spanish bluesman Guadalupe Plata to former Black Diamond Heavies rocker Mark "Porkchop" Holder, with Pentecostal picker Reverend Deadeye, the Dead Exs, John the Conqueror and many more. (4-10 p.m. Fri.-next Sun., Bayport BBQ, 328 5th Av. N., Bayport, $70 per day including food, $175 for three days, BayportBBQ.com.)
