MPR confirms that news director Bill Wareham is out as MPR's news director, a post he's held since 2005. He's being replaced by his deputy, Mike Edgerly.
According to a spokesperson, Wareham will stay on as an editor and supervise a certain number of reporters. He'll also be a player in digital projects.
News Director Chris Worthington wouldn't comment beyond this statement: "We do not comment on personnel changes."
According to his MPR bio, Wareham, a Twin Cities native, joined MPR in 1982 and became news director in 2005.
