A motorcyclist was killed after his bike collided with a car late Sunday afternoon in northeast Minneapolis, according to police.

The man, whose name and age were not released, was taken to Hennepin County Medical Center, where he later died from his injuries, a police news release said.

Traffic investigators were still investigating the crash, which occurred sometime after 6 p.m. along Broadway Street NE., just west of University Avenue, the release said. Officers arrived to find the critically-injured man lying in the middle of the road.

Authorities have released few other details about the incident, other than that the motorcyle was traveling east on Broadway when it collided with an oncoming car.

The car's driver was unharmed and is cooperating with investigators, said police spokesman John Elder.
